CELEBRATING THE ANNIVERSARY WITH UZBEK FRIENDS

On November 18, 2020, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an exhibition, devoted to the 25th anniversary since the adoption of the UN Resolution “On Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan’.

Representatives of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Turkmen students and teaching staff of higher education institutions in Tashkent, and representatives of the Turkmen diaspora were among those attending the event.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Uzbekistan Yazguly Mammedov opened the exhibition and informed about the events being organized to mark 25 years of Turkmenistan’s neutrality at all levels, in our country and beyond. He told the guests about an International Conference “Policy of Neutrality and Its Role in International Peace, Security and Sustainable Development” to be held in Ashgabat on December 12, 2020.

The head of the Turkmen diplomatic mission also told the event participants about the history of Turkmen neutrality, its role in strengthening peace, security, stability and sustainable development in the Central Asian region and worldwide.

Ambassador Ya. Mammedov congratulated the attendees and the brotherly people of the Republic of Uzbekistan on State Flag Day, celebrated on November 18, and wished wellbeing and prosperity.

Speaking at the event, the head of the Spiritual and Educational Work Department of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdurakhim Nurmuradov pointed out the importance of Turkmenistan’s peaceful policy of neutrality and centered on the close fraternal relations between the Turkmen and Uzbek nations.

The participants were shown video films celebrating the scenic beauty of nature, national culture, traditions and rich history of Turkmenistan, present-day life and achievements over the 25-year period of neutrality.

The exhibition featured the scientific works and books by the President of Turkmenistan, photographs of the country’s landmarks, national carpets, handcrafts and embroidery, which showcased the Turkmen nation’s rich history and culture.
