LIBRARIANS OF TURKMENISTAN AND ARMENIA HOLD ONLINE CONFERENCE
The State Library of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan and the National Library of Armenia launched cooperation on December 24.
"Libraries are an indicator of the cultural and educational level achieved by a country, the intellectual development of a population", President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizes, underlining that our people have always treated these riches with reverence, attaching special importance to books.
The online conference brought together representatives of the State Library of Turkmenistan and state libraries of all regions of our country and employees of the National Library of Armenia. Meeting participants spoke about the methodology of preserving library funds and about the issues of book restoration, the principles of creating a single electronic catalogue of rare publications, as well as the digitalization of book collections.
Today, the development of librarianship, along with other areas of this sphere, is under the close attention of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In accordance with the "State Programme for the Development of the Sphere of Culture in Turkmenistan for 2019-2025", all measures are taken in our country to improve institutions of the sphere of culture and education.
Meeting participants exchanged views and presented reports. Then the conversation continued in the “question-answer” format - the colleagues had the opportunity to learn more about the innovative approaches to the development of librarianship in Turkmenistan and Armenia.
Participants of the forum underlined the importance of further close cooperation.
