9TH TURKMEN-GERMAN HEALTH FORUM

On January 21, the 9th Turkmen-German Health Forum kicked off at the International Research and Training Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry in an online telebridge format.

Initiated by the nation’s leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the forum seeks to deepen the successful partnership between Turkmen and German healthcare professionals, and to develop joint projects aimed at modernizing the healthcare system of Turkmenistan, taking advantage of advanced technologies and up-to-date equipment, training research staff and highly-qualified specialists.

The telebridge brought together professors at the Großhadern Clinic of the University of Munich and heads and representatives of our country’s state medical institutions and clinical research centers, Turkmen State Medical University, and regional and Ashgabat city’s healthcare departments.

The German doctors expressed their sincere gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the great trust placed in partners from the FRG, who actively participate in implementing the fundamental reforms in the healthcare system of Turkmenistan.

At the online forum, special attention was given to adult and pediatric urology and gynecology. Speakers presented reports on the development of the above-said branches of medicine in Turkmenistan and Germany, preventive care, modern solutions, and specifics of staff training.

Along with that the forum discussed urologic screening in all age groups (from newborn babies to elderly people); pathophysiology, diagnostics of kidney disease, treatment and relapse prevention; malignant tumor in men (carcinoma): diagnostics and treatment, etc. The German scientists shared expertise and outcomes of new treatment methods.

The forum participants also considered diagnostic procedures, the prevention and treatment for kidney stone disease (urolithiasis) adopted at the International Medical Center for Internal Diseases under the International Medical Centers Directorate.

Slide presentations and videos offered helpful insights into a number of new innovations introduced at medical clinics in Turkmenistan and Germany that help to save people’s lives and restore them to health.

Thanks to bilateral exchanges of experience, new diagnostic and treatment practices and minimally invasive surgery techniques have been employed at our clinics. Research and practice conferences, training seminars and professional training courses are regularly organized for Turkmen medical professionals with the participation of professors from leading clinics of Germany.

The second day of the forum will be dedicated to precautionary measures for high-risk pregnancies, infectious diseases in pregnant women, and gynecological disease prevention, among others.
