COMMEMORATING 25 YEARS OF TURKMENISTAN’S NEUTRALITY

Exhibitions devoted to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality have officially opened in the city of Dashoguz at the Dashoguz Velayat Library and Turkmen Agricultural Institute. The region’s agencies and institutions representing different sectors actively participated in the organization of the exhibitions. On display are agricultural produce, products manufactured by local industrial enterprises and private firms; books, including works by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov; conceptual models, which include the Monument of Neutrality, the emblem of the Year designated as “Turkmenistan: A Land of Neutrality”, modern buildings; easel paintings and pieces of sculpture, arts and crafts. The exhibitions also include stands showcasing the practical use of innovative sustainable land and water management technologies, and environmentally friendly technologies and solutions. Conferences devoted to the Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality were organized as part of the exhibitions. Among those in attendance were representatives of labor collectives and public organizations, Mejlis deputies, honorary elders and students.

The last decades have seen the rapid and significant economic growth in the northern region and urban development has dramatically gained in scope. Scores of social and cultural facilities and industrial enterprises that use locally available raw materials have been constructed in the velayat. Private enterprises have grown in number. Like the country’s other regions, Dashoguz Velayat is actively engaged in multifaceted cooperation of Turkmenistan with other countries. In particular, it has played host to international festivals and conferences. Back in the past, the city of Dashoguz was chosen as the CIS Capital of Culture. The region’s high-technology textile enterprises and greenhouse facilities are now exporting their products abroad.
