New Opportunities for Turkmenistan-UAE Business Cooperation Discussed in Sharjah
On 18 February 2026, a meeting was held at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the United Arab Emirates between Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the UAE Bayram Bayramov and Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber and Expo Centre Sharjah Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, as well as ICC UAE Chairman and Secretary General of the Federation of UAE Chambers Humaid M. Ben Salem.
The discussion took place in a constructive atmosphere and confirmed the shared commitment to further expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The parties positively assessed the outcomes of the Second Turkmenistan-UAE Business Forum held in Sharjah on 2 October 2025, noting its important role in strengthening direct contacts between business communities and identifying new areas of partnership.
Particular attention was given to the initiative of holding the Third Turkmenistan-UAE Business Forum in Ashgabat in the first half of the year, potentially alongside major international exhibitions such as Turkmentravel 2026, Agro Pack Turkmenistan 2026 or Turkmentextile Expo 2026. Such coordination could ensure broader participation of Emirati companies and create additional synergy. The Emirati side expressed readiness to review the exhibition calendar and submit proposals regarding the optimal timing and format of the forum.
The sides also discussed the participation of Turkmen companies in Hive Furniture Show 2026 at Expo Centre Sharjah, including the organization of a national pavilion presenting traditional carpets, textiles and decorative arts. The importance of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the chambers was emphasized as a step toward institutionalizing cooperation and promoting joint projects.
