MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE FOR PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF BREED CHARACTERISTICS OF ALABAY ESTABLISHED IN TURKMENISTAN
First session of Türkmen alabaý itleri Association, which agenda included organizational issues, utmost objectives of the organization founded for development of selection of Turkmen alabays, protection and improvement of this unique canine breed and its popularization in the world, was held.
It was followed by the opening ceremony of veterinary clinic and pet complex, which are fundamentally new facilities built by initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As is known, inaugural meeting of the Association was held in Turkmen Agricultural University on May 1. The Chapter of Türkmen alabaý itleri Association has been adopted, the head was elected and Executive committee of the organization has been formed up at the session.
Speaking to the participants, Chairman of the Association Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted that alabays were not just helpers and reliable guards but also dedicated friends of Turkmens through thousands of years. Today, these dogs are integral part of the richest cultural heritage of Turkmen nation, which we have to protect and pass down to future generations as our ancestors have done.
The goal of establishment of the Association is to protect and improve the breed, its best characteristics, which distinguish Turkmen alabays from many other breeds.
Protection and improvement of the best traditions of national canine breeding school in the context of objectives set by the President of Turkmenistan for breeding of alabays on systematic base, application of methods of national selection and modern achievements of the world science are among the utmost directions of its activity.
Organizational issues have been reviewed at the session. Private dog breeder Annageldy Yazmyradov has been unanimously elected as the Deputy Chairman of the Association; the executive Secretary has also been elected. New members have also been admitted.
Logotype of Türkmen alabaý itleri Association depicting alabay, which has always been dedicated friend and brave defender, has been approved.
Turkmen leader notes that alabay symbolizes indomitable will to win, physical power and good spiritual force in people’s imagination. It is not occasionally that alabay was official symbol of V Asian Indoor and Martial Art Games, which were successfully held in Ashgabat in 2017.
Turkmens have always valued alabay for its dedication. Irreconcilable to enemies, having no one equal to itself as a watch dog, which Turkmen shepherds were aware of, the alabay defended his master and everything surrounding him like house, family and children with pride.
Therefore, the alabay has become an embodiment of unlimited affection, trust and friendship and these are the main concepts, which are put in the logo of the Association.
On behalf of all Turkmenistan citizens, the participants expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for care of protection of national traditions of horse breeding as a part of the richest cultural heritage as well as for important measures aimed at further development and popularization of the alabay.
It includes complex of buildings of Türkmen alabaý itleri Business Entity, which were built in Ak Bugday etrap, Ahal Velayat. Opening ceremony of this specialized facility, which is engaged in breeding of the legendary breed of dogs, was held in September 2019 with participation of Serdar Berdimuhamedov and put the beginning to systematic activity for development of famous breed on modern level.
This is the first facility of such kind in our country, which construction is an evidence of big attention that is paid to the formation of valuable gene pool of Turkmen dogs in modern age, enhancement of general culture of canine breeding and its methodological provision.
Due to its exterior as well as to character and behavioural features, these big and physical strong dogs, which at the same time are distinguished with benevolent and obedient character and are very popular not only in the country but also far beyond its borders.
Our dogs deservingly take leading positions among watch dogs in many countries, therefore, as Head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov says, it is necessary to breed alabays on professional level not to lose any of its outstanding characteristics.
Infrastructure of specialized kennel, which occupies 1 hectare, has all necessary for comfortable keeping of big dogs. It is able to accommodate 40 adult pets and 30 puppies.
Laboratory of new centre has modern equipment. The complex has auxiliary premises for feeding and washing of dogs, cold storage, other additional rooms. 5 blocks are allocated for veterinary services. In addition, it has indoor training ground and special place with visitor stands for demonstration performance.
Therefore, it meets all requirements for pedigree dog breeding, detection and improvement of specific breed attributes in their offspring as well as for fruitful work of selectionists, bet doctors and other specialists.
Increased interest in Turkmen alabays, which is observed in the last years, was mainly caused by personal relation of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, owing to who century-old glory of these unique watch dogs grows every year increasing number of lovers of this breed in all parts of the world.
After, the activities have moved to Anau, in one of the districts of which new veterinary clinic was built. Chairman of Türkmen alabaý itleri Assoication and Minister of Industry and Construction Production Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the clinic. Hyakim of Ahal Velayat, deputy hyakims of the region, youth were among the participants.
The Head of Türkmen alabaý itleri Association noted that opening of new facilities indicates what attention is paid to Turkmen alabays in the country in the epoch of might and happiness. This is another example that modern system of canine activity and dog breeding is under formation in the country.
Our ancestors has created and left us a legacy of noble principles of harmonic co-existence with environment, traditions of careful treatment of nature. These foundations of Turkmen society, which have been developed throughout the centuries and deeply entrenched in the people’s mind, receive new content today, Serdar Berdimuhamedov said. Due to activity of the President of Turkmenistan, these primordial human values are implemented in the state ecological policy aimed at protection of biodiversity, unique flora and fauna of the our country, rational use of resources of nature, which beauty we have to bring to our successors.
In this aspect, Turkmenistan successfully implements National Forest Programme, new natural reserves are opened, construction of Altyn Asyr Turkmen Lake, which is to enhance flora and fauna of Karakum Desert, is continued.
Having made special mention of importance of vet clinic, which was opened on that day and is another visual example of care of the nature, Serdar Berdimuhamedov briefly explained to the participants of the ceremony about its structure as well as about another new facility – the complex for home pets, and congratulated all on this event on behalf of the Head of the State.
After, Serdar Berdimuhamedov went to the main entrance of the veterinary clinic and cut symbolical ribbon under the applauses of the participant officially opening new facility.
Veterinary clinic, which is located not far from Ashgabat and reports to the State Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection, presents entirely new word in provision of services to home pets. This modern treatment and diagnostic centre provided with advanced medical equipment designated for detection of animal diseases and professional treatment.
Veterinary doctors of the clinic are high-class professionals who put noble principles of helping to home pets as their goals. All specialists has qualification improvement training on work with the latest equipment on the base of training centre of the Ministry of Health Protection and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan.
In addition to vet clinic, the complex for temporary stay of animals, which has also been ceremonially opened on the same day with participation of Serdar Berdimuhamedov, was built not far away.
After, on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented thoroughbred alabays, which were brought up in Türkmen alabaý itleri Kennel Association, to Ashgabat and velayat administrations as well as the Ministry of Interior and State Border Guard Service.
