PROSPECTS OF TURKMEN-UZBEK COOPERATION IN TRADE AND ECONOMIC SPHERE ARE DISCUSSED

The Business Council "Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan" held the 1st videoconference meeting to discuss the strategy of building up multifaceted interstate cooperation.
The online meeting was attended by heads and leading specialists of a number of sectoral ministries and departments, as well as representatives of business structures of the two countries.
Opening the meeting, the co-chairs of the Council - the chairs of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries - emphasized that regular mutual visits, personal meetings and negotiations of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which serve as a solid foundation for effective bilateral interaction in political diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, strengthened the strategic partnership.
Underlining the existing trade and economic opportunities and the enormous potential for expanding ties in various fields, the parties expressed their belief that the current business negotiations would directly contribute to the further intensification of the traditional Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation based on the inviolable bonds of friendship, historical, cultural and spiritual community two fraternal neighboring peoples.
Participants in the videoconference meeting discussed priority areas for en-hancing business contacts, including the trade and economic sphere, textile, construc-tion, chemical and electronic industries, healthcare and pharmaceutical industry, com-munications, ecology, environmental protection, as well as the agro-industrial complex.
Logistics plays an important role in this area. The neighboring state supports the initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan on developing wide interna-tional partnership in the transport sector.
As noted, large-scale transformations, the course taken for accelerated diversi-fication and digitalization of the national economy, opened up great opportunities for enhancing partnerships in a wide range of areas.
Reaffirming the commitment to expand productive relations, the meeting par-ticipants expressed confidence that the Business Council "Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan" would serve to increase the volume of mutual trade, stimulate investment activities and strengthen contacts between the business circles of the two countries.
