AN ONLINE LECTURE WAS HELD UNDER THE TITLE "ENERGY DIPLOMACY: INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE"
On November 13, 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, together with the OSCE Center in Ashgabat organized an online lecture on the topic "Energy Diplomacy: International Experience".
The lecture was attended by Professor of Moscow State Institute of International Relations, President of the Center for Energy Diplomacy and Geopolitics Stanislav Zhiznin, international expert from the Russian Federation Rimma Subkhankulova, international expert from Serbia Alexander Kovachevich, faculty and students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, International University of Oil and Gas, State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.
In their speeches, international experts focused the participants' attention on such issues as energy diplomacy and global energy in the context of heightened inter-fuel competition, security of energy supplies as a critical aspect of energy diplomacy, and the relationship between technologies, resources and governance in this area. The experts also shared their knowledge in matters of trade relations in the oil and gas sector between the Central Asian region and other CIS countries and the People’s Republic of China.
In this context, it is important to note that during the 75th session of the Unite Nations General Assembly, Turkmenistan provides for the presentation of a draft UN General Assembly Resolution aimed at considering the possibilities of forming an open-ended international expert group to develop a modern UN international legal instrument in the field of stability and reliability of energy transit.
The lecture also provided an overview of international priorities in the energy sector and an analysis of global trends and strategies in this area. At the end of the meeting, an exchange of views took place in the Q&A format.
