COOPERATION WITH FOREIGN PARTNERS GROW STRONGER

Signing of big package of important documents has been held at the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov under International exhibition dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality, which has been opened on the day before in the Exposition Center of the Trade and Industrial Chamber.

These are 18 memoranda, agreements and working plans with international organizations and foreign companies, which were also signed in online mode and aimed at establishment of long-term beneficial cooperation in agricultural complex.

The second day of the exposition forum was dedicated to the achievements and future development of agricultural complex, which is an important section of national economy.

Another stage of multi-tiered reforms for integrated modernization and diversification of all branches of national economy, including in agricultural complex, has been started after adoption of the Program of social and economic development of Turkmenistan in 2019 – 2025.

Recent Resolution on handover of lands for the state order to the producers was an important step in wide attraction of private entrepreneurs to this industry.

The undertaken measures are to support active implementation of advanced technologies, rational use of land and water resources and, which is the main thing, to the formation of marketing relations in this field and increment of the share of private sector in the industry.

National Climate Change Strategy and National Forest Program, under which big work is carried in the country in environment protection sphere, are successfully implemented in the country.

International initiatives of Turkmenistan include the proposal on the opening of the Regional Center of Technologies related to the climate change in Central Asia in Ashgabat as well as on development of the UN Special Program for saving of the Aral Sea and the UN Water Strategy.

Cooperation with the United Nations and its main agencies is a priority of foreign strategy of Turkmenistan. This is visually indicated by current signing of number of bilateral documents, including Memorandas on Understanding for cooperation with Turkmenistan’s Representative Office of the UN Development Office.

From Turkmen side, the documents have been signed by the Minister of Agriculture and Natural Protection, Minister of Energy and Chairman of the State Water Management Committee.

Coordinated working plans for 2021 on number of projects, including “Provision of sustainability of social and economic condition of the population engaged in agriculture in dry regions of Turkmenistan related to the climate change” and “Sustainable development of the cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated development of green cities in Ashgabat and Avaza”, have been signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection and the UNDP Representative Office in Turkmenistan.

In its turn, the State Water Management Committee has signed 2021 working plan for “Sources of renewable energy for efficient use of energy resources and sustainable water management of Turkmenistan” project with the UNDP Representative Office in Turkmenistan.

Certain documents have been signed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection and the Government of the country with the UN Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), with which a close cooperation has been established in the last years.

Turkmen side has also signed the agreements and memorandums of understanding for cooperation with other partners, in particular, with the Central Asia Regional Ecological Center, German International Cooperation Society (GIZ), foreign companies Valmont Industries, Inc, Valey and JCB Sales Limited.

In its turn, the Türkmen atlary State Association has signed Framework agreements on cooperation in equestrian sphere with the PCR’s Equestrian Association and Jockey Club from the Republic of Turkey as well as Memorandum of Understanding with French Equestrian and Horse Riding Institute.

Scientific and practical conference “Protection of beautiful nature, ecosystem of Turkmenistan – Guarantee of sustainable development”, video conference session with members of International Ahalteke Equestrian Association, round table sessions with online participation of representatives of international organizations and big foreign companies - leading producers of agricultural and water management equipment, are among other important events of the exhibition.
