TURKMENISTAN - UN: EXPANDING LONG-TERM COOPERATION
The ceremony of signing documents to launch new joint projects of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a number of ministries and department of Turkmenistan took place in Ashgabat on December 8, 2020.
The event held on occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan is to emphasize the success of cooperation with the UN agencies to address global issues.
The projects are initiated in the framework of the new programme cycle for 2021-2025 in the area of economic diversification, governance and inclusive growth.
Among the projects are Phase 2 of the Project on “Partnering for SDG acceleration” between UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan; 2021 Work Plan between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Representation of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) for the implementation of the UNICEF Country Programme for Turkmenistan for 2021-2025; “Supporting business and digital transformation in banking sector” between UNDP and the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs; “Strengthening resilience to violent extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia) for 2021-2022” between UNDP and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan
The signed bilateral documents will contribute to the further development of fruitful cooperation with the largest UN structures that is prioritized by the state policy pursued by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
