THE DELEGATION OF TURKMENISTAN HELD A SERIES OF CONSTRUCTIVE MEETINGS DURING THE VISIT TO THE UAE

During the period of February 2-4, 2021, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan B.Matiyev was on the working visit to the United Arab Emirates.     

During the visit, the Turkmen delegation had a number of constructive meetings with the leadership of the Government of the UAE, as well as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).   

On the 2nd of February, the meetings of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as with the Director General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi were held.  

During the meetings, wide range of issues of mutual interest on further strengthening of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UAE were discussed.    

Upon the outcomes of the talks, the following bilateral documents were signed: the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (regarding the financing of projects in Turkmenistan); the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (regarding the establishment of investment companies in Turkmenistan); the Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Financing of Potential Projects in Turkmenistan between Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activities of Turkmenistan Acting on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan.

Then, on the 3rd of February the meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera was held. 

The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the IRENA with the aim of expanding collaboration in the field of rational use of renewable energy sources, provision of energy security.

Also, on the 4th of February, the Turkmen delegation had a meeting with the Executive Director of the Expo 2020, Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, during which the organizational matters were discussed which are related to the participation of Turkmenistan’s representatives to this large-scale event which is planned for October of current year.
