OPERATION OF INTERNATIONAL TRANSPORT CORRIDORS IN AGENDA OF ONLINE MEETINGS

Turkmenbashy International Seaport is the largest transit hub of the region. Located on Europe- Caucasus - Asia trade route, it is able to receive ships throughout the year, making loading and offloading works all day around. Its throughput capacity has grown three times and is 17 million tons of cargo in average. At present, cargo goes by transit via the port to Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and from Afghanistan to Turkey by Lapis Lazuli Corridor. The port is also widely used for export off Turkmen production. Activation of international cooperation in transport and logistic sphere is indicated by regular online meetings of representatives of our country with foreign colleagues, during which priorities of cooperation are discussed.

Thus, session for development of cooperation in the sphere of transport communication between Turkmenistan and Russian Federation has been held in online format. Delegation chaired by Deputy Transport Minister Yuri Zvetkov has participated in video conference from Russian side and heads and representatives of Türkmendenizderýaýollary, Türkmendemirýollary, Türkmenawtoulaglary agencies from Turkmen side.

The participants of the meeting have discussed cooperation in the sphere of maritime, railway and road transport as well as training of specialists.

In particular, it was spoken about arrangement of regular ferry communication between Russian ports of Mahachkala and Olya and Turkmenabshy International Seaport as well as conditions of transportation in maritime sphere. It was confirmed that regular ferry communications Turkmenbashy – Mahachkala and Turkmenbashy – Olya will provide transportation of food, construction materials, wood, polymeric production, diesel fuel and other petroleum products at current stage. It was noted that in regards to establishment of ferry communication between Turkmenabshy and Olya ports, the tariffs of port calls will be equalized and opportunity of discounts will be increased.

Operation of international transport corridor Black Sea – Caspian Sea was a subject of discussion between representatives of government organizations and private structures of Turkmenistan and Romania at online meeting.

Heads of Türkmendenizderýaýollary Agency, Turkmenbashy International Seaport and Maritime Merchant Fleet CJSV took part in the session from Turkmen side. Romania was represented by personnel of the Constanta Seaport Administration National Company, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communication, State Railway Company CFR MARFA SA and Constanta Business Association.

The delegations have exchanged the opinions on development of trade relations. It was noted that Turkmenbashy and Constanta ports have geographic advantages and provided with necessary modern equipment. Range of goods and types of transport, which would be used under this project, have also been discussed.

Another video conference has connected representatives of Türkmendenizderýaýollary Agency, Turkmenbashy International Seaport and Romanian company UMEX S.A. During the meeting, the sides have discussed perspectives of bilateral cooperation.

Wide range of equipment for maritime shipping has been presented at online meeting with top management of Larsen and Toubro Limited (The Republic of India). The agenda of talks has also covered shipbuilding and construction of port infrastructure facilities.
