THE ECONOMY OF LEBAP REGION: SILK PRODUCTION LINE AND POSITIVE DYNAMICS OF POWER ENERGY

New fabrics, carpets and sewing articles have been added to the production line of Turkmenabat Silk Production Association. The line in original color and texture palette has been developed and launched in production taking into account the consumer demand.

The biggest facility of textile industry of the eastern region of the country efficiently search for reserves to improve quality and expand the variety of production. This is supported by professional skills of the team, efficient marketing strategy and high-technology equipment.

From the beginning of the year, the facility has produced 7 mullion square meters of cotton and quarter million square meters of silk fabrics as well as more than 50 tons of silk yarn, which is on high demand in foreign market. Comparing with the same period of the last year, the production of silk carpets has increased by more than 40 percent.

More than one billion kilowatt/hours of energy has been produced by the State gas turbine power station Watan in Dovetly district, Lebap Region.

Opening of the power station, which is equipped with gas turbines from the world famous American General Electric, in 2016 has played an important role not only in provision of local requirements but also in increment of export of electricity.

Significant changes related to industrial diversification and modernization, development of rich natural resources and rapid development of transport system, which receive international significance, are held in Lebap Region and all around the country in the last years.

Power energy infrastructure is rapidly developed in the context of economic changes. Projects of increment of export of Turkmen electricity, especially to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, are implemented. At present time, construction of new super modern gas turbine 432 Megawatt power station is carried out in Charjew district.
