ONLINE CONFERENCE ON TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS IN THE CASPIAN SEA REGION
On November 19, 2020, an international round-table conference entitled “The Role of Positive Neutrality of Turkmenistan in the Sustainable Development of the Transport and Logistics Sector in the Caspian Sea Region” was held in collaboration with the Consulate of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation (the city of Astrakhan) and the Agency for International Relations of the Astrakhan Region. Among those participating in the online event were representatives of authorities and the business community, experts, teaching staff of higher education universities, media professionals of Turkmenistan and the Astrakhan Region.
Speakers at a plenary meeting were Consul of Turkmenistan G. Garaev and Acting Director of the Agency for International Relations of the Astrakhan Region I. Toropitsin. The participants were shown a video film devoted to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality.
During the conference’s first session the sides discussed the important aspects of cooperation and signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Regional Association of Ship-owners and Freight Forwarders of the Astrakhan Region (Astrakhan, the Russian Federation) and the Turkmen Logistics Association (Ashgabat, Turkmenistan).
Heads and teachers of the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan (IETCT), the Caspian Institute of Maritime and River Transport (CIMRT) and Astrakhan State Technical University (ASTU) were among those taking part in the second session devoted to specialist training in the sphere of transport and logistics. The parties considered new ways of advancing the cooperation and signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of Engineering and Transport Communications of Turkmenistan and the Caspian Institute of Maritime and River Transport.
