NEW MODERN AIRPORT WILL MARK ANNIVERSARY YEAR
Built by entrepreneurs, a new multipurpose shopping complex has opened its doors in the city of Kerki, Lebap Velayat. It features a large variety of outlets: some 100 stores offering a wide selection of food and manufactured products, household goods, customer services, a roofed market and 2 large modern buildings with public amenities. The high-quality complex and its facilities boast modern exterior and interior finishes, a distinctive national flavor and architectural features.
Designated as “Turkmenistan: The Land of Peace and Trust” on the initiative of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, this year marks our country’s 30th anniversary of independence. And the ancient city of Kerki, which is located on the bank of the Amudarya River and was once a vital stop-off point along the Silk Road, continues to develop rapidly and expand. A new residential area of 4-story apartment buildings is currently under construction in the city. A new modern rice milling facility has been completed recently and a new modern village is being built.
But a new modern airport due to open officially in the second quarter will be a major facility of the anniversary year for the residents. As a TDH correspondent was informed at the Kerki etrap khyakimlik, the airport construction project is now about 80 percent complete. Construction of the 2,700-meter-long and 60-meter-wide runway and a number of other facilities has now been completed as well. Being built in accordance with the Presidential Order, the city’s airport will be able to handle 100 passengers per hour. The airport is being constructed by members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, specialists and builders of Gundogdy. A few years ago, this private enterprise constructed the Turkmenabat International Airport, which boasts high standards of quality and meets world standards. It was officially opened by the nation’s leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
